| Substitution hours are not to be construed as trade-out hours with another member, i.e., if a member requests another member to work his/her shift and the member will in turn work his/her shift on another day, bonus hours do not apply. |
C. Membership Awards
Membership award pins shall be given after completion of 500 hours. Bars shall be given in sequence of every 500 hours up to 3000 hours; and from 3000 hours on, bars shall be presented for every additional 1000 hours. When a new bar is presented, the old bar should be returned to the First Vice President.

Members who have served 10,000 hours are honored with a Life Membership. Such members, if they are no longer active volunteers, shall continue to receive all newsletters and invitations to hospital functions honoring volunteers.
C. Associate Membership
A member may make written application to become an Associate Member. He or she must have been an active member for at least one year and have worked at least 120 hours. If the application is approved by the President, the Associate Member will pay $25.00 annual dues and receive copies of all newsletters.
D. A leave of absence may be taken upon approval of the President of the Seton Northwest Volunteers or the Director of Volunteer Services. A leave may be taken for three months. During this period, the absent volunteer relinquishes his or her work time and area. Beyond three months the volunteer severs all connections with the Volunteers unless otherwise approved by the Director and President. When reinstated into service membership, all previous hours shall be retained.
E. A member may resign by written notification to the President and the Director of Volunteers. Such a member shall be completely severed from all connections with the Volunteers. All security I.D. badges must be returned to the Volunteer Office.
F. Only active members of the Seton Northwest Volunteers shall be eligible to wear the official volunteer uniform which is as follows:

A. The Nominating Committee shall consist of five member and one alternate member who shall be elected annually by the general membership at the October general meeting. The President Elect and the Director of Volunteers shall be advisors.
B. The Chairperson of the Nominating Committee shall be the member receiving the most votes.
C. The Nominating Committee, after having obtained permission from all nominees before presenting their names, shall prepare a slate of nominees for officers and present this to the Volunteers at the January meeting.
(For the duties and responsibilities of all officers of the Seton Nothwest Volunteers refer to their job descriptions available in the Volunteer Services office. These officers shall perform the duties prescribed by the By-Laws and by the Parliamentary authority adopted by the Seton Northwest Volunteers.)
A. To be eligible for an office in the Seton Northwest Volunteers, any nominee for an elected office must have been active in the organization for a minimum of 12 months and must have served 120 hours.
B. All officers, except the Treasurer, shall serve for a period of one year and cannot be re-elected to the same office the following year or serve two consecutive terms.
C. The Treasurer shall be elected to serve two years.
D. Any elected officer or Board member shall be subject to removal from office by two-thirds affirmative vote of the members on the Seton Northwest Volunteers Board.
A. Parliamentarian
The Parliamentarian shall serve as a consultant who advises the President,
other officers, committees and members on matters of Parliamentary
procedure. His/her role during a meeting is an advisory and consultative one to the chair and, when requested, to any other member.
B. Historian
The Historian shall prepare a scrapbook of the Volunteers activities during his/her term of office, which when accepted by the organization, will become a permanent part of the Volunteers official history.
C. Membership/Publicity
An appointed office by the Volunteers President. His or her role is that of community networking, updating Heartbeat with Volunteers news and solicitation.
A. The Seton Northwest Volunteers Board shall consist of all elected officers, Historian, Parliamentarian, Service Committee Chairpersons in Article VIII Standing Rules, Standing Committee Chairpersons, the Immediate Past-President, the Seton Senior Vice-President of Fund Development or a designee, and the Seton Northwest Director of Volunteer Services.
B. The unexpired term of officers or Volunteers Board Members shall be filled by vote of the Volunteers Board. A vacancy of the office of president will be automatically filled by the President Elect. The resignation of the Past-President's position shall not be filled.
C. The absence of any Volunteers Board member, without a valid reason, from three consecutive meetings shall constitute the member's resignation from the Board. The Volunteers Board shall determine the validity of any excuse in question.

A. Every service which is comprised of at least ten members shall have a Chairperson. This Chairperson must act as the Service Area Representative on the Volunteers Board.
